Basketball star Stephen Curry’s wife, Ayesha Curry, and his mother, Sonya Curry, found themselves in a tense situation with French police on Sunday, August 13 just after the U.S. men’s basketball team, among them Curry, won gold at 2024 Paris Olympics.

A video posted by the Hollywood Fix revealed the intense moment, showing Ayesha, 35, wiping away tears while Sonya, 58, engaged in a heated exchange with officers who were reportedly preventing the family from returning to their vehicle

The Ayesha’s Homemade host is seen holding her and Curry’s 3-month-old son, Caius Chai, in a baby carrier on her chest while also holding the hand of their 6-year-old son, Canon Jack.

“They won’t let us go back over there where we came from,” Curry’s mother is heard saying. “They won’t let the driver come here, and they won’t let us go back over there.”

The traffic jam blocking their escape path was, according to Page Six, due to the French President Emmanuel Macron exiting the area at the same time.

In the video, the commotion escalated when baby Caius got hit on the head by a passerby on the scene, which prompted the immediate emotional response from Ayesha, their family, and friends, among them, Curry’s Golden State Warriors teammate and NBA superstar Draymond Green, who he can be heard shouting, “So even after y’all hit the baby in the head, there’s still nothing y’all can do to get them out of here?”

After the short but intense altercation, an unidentified man who came over to translate for the police can then be heard apologizing on behalf of an officer, saying, “Sorry about the baby.”

The Currys, who have been married since 2011, have not yet spoken out publicly about the dramatic encounter.
